While You Were Distracted By A Phony Impeachment – Congress Reauthorizes Tyrannical PATRIOT Act

On my radio show Tuesday, I said that I’m sick of hearing about non-crimes during a phony impeachment process that is going nowhere, and that due to the over exposure of the media on this “shiny thing,” there are things going on behind the scenes that need to be exposed, and lo and behold, there were.  One of the main things overshadowed by the three ring circus in DC was a cover for the reauthorization of one of the most tyrannical pieces of unconstitutional legislation in our history, the PATRIOT Act.

And there is no doubt, President Donald Trump will go along with it.  After all, he’s pushed for reauthorizing the National Security Agency’s (NSA) unlawful spying program on the American people, even as his administration goes after the people who exposed the NSA’s crimes!

WARNING:  Q followers, patriots are not in charge.  Tyrants are. Wake up!

Not only did Democrats stand for the bill’s reauthorization in a Continuing Resolution, but they waived a rule that would have given Congress at least 72 hours to read the Continuing Resolution that extended the lawless Act.

Want to see how your congressman voted?  Check it out here.

“230 members of Congress just voted to waive the rule that gives us 72 hours to read the Continuing Resolution,” Rep. Thomas Massie tweeted.  “Why is that significant? This CR contains a last minute unrelated provision to extend the .”

RT has the story:

House Democrats have slipped an unqualified renewal of the draconian PATRIOT Act into an emergency funding bill – voting near-unanimously for sweeping surveillance carte blanche that was the basis for the notorious NSA program.

A three-month reauthorization of the notorious PATRIOT Act was shoehorned into a last-minute continuing resolution (CR) funding the US government, bundling measures needed to avert yet another government shutdown with a continuation of the wildly-intrusive surveillance powers passed after the 9/11 terror attacks. Democrats voted almost unanimously for it, granting the far-reaching surveillance capabilities to the very same president they’re trying to impeach.

A roll-call vote on the bill was split exactly along party lines, with all 230 Democrats standing up for unconstitutional mass surveillance – including progressives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York) and Ilhan Omar (D-Minnesota), who spoke out against it earlier. Two other Democrats opted not to vote, but not a single representative dared oppose party groupthink.

However, keep in mind, it was a Republican administration and majority in House and Senate that put this unconstitutional legislation into place during George W. Bush’s first term in office, and it’s still going on 18 years later!

RT adds:

It’s not just domestic surveillance that has driven Democrats and Republicans together. Despite the contrarian stance of the “Squad” and other outspoken #Resisters against President Donald Trump, House Democrats have largely gone along with Republicans in giving the president all the money he wants to wage war. Just 16 Democrats voted against the near-record ‘defense’ budget in July, a bloated $1.48 trillion over two years that dwarfs US defense spending at the height of the wars in Korea and Vietnam and gives the Pentagon more money than the rest of government combined.

Nor is Tuesday’s vote the first time Democrats have voted with, or to the right of, their colleagues across the aisle to back domestic surveillance programs, despite casually comparing Trump to Adolf Hitler and other fascist bogeymen.

Even the creators of the PATRIOT Act didn’t expect the post-9/11 police state to last forever, and included a ‘sunset provision’ that would have allowed the bill to expire – to die a natural death, legislatively-speaking – when it has outlived its usefulness. Yet Congress has kept the program on life support for years, with bipartisan support.

Evan Greer, deputy director of digital rights group Fight for the Future, highlighted the provision on Twitter shortly after House Democrats released the continuing resolution (pdf), which would temporarily avert a looming government shutdown by providing funding for federal agencies through December 20. A House vote on the measure is expected as early as Tuesday.

“Wow,” said Greer. “House Democrats are ignoring civil liberties and including a three month straight re-authorization of the Patriot Act (with zero reform) in the continuing resolution.”

“When the Patriot Act’s surveillance authorities were initially enacted, they came with a ‘sunset’ clause to safeguard against the exact scenario where we had an authoritarian, racist, openly fascist president,” Greer added. “And yet here we are and top Dems are still supporting reauthorization.”

“Yeah that’s gonna be a no from me,” tweeted Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).

Hours later, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) echoed her colleague: “Yeah… no. Count me out.”

For once, I agree with the airhead socialist from New York and the criminal, jihadi, adultress from Minnesota.

Reason.com adds:

The continuing resolution will also boost pay for the military, fund next year’s census, and hike overall spending by about $322 billion—a figure that was agreed to earlier this year, but still seems irresponsible given the rapidly rising deficit and $23 trillion national debt.

The four-week stopgap funding bill also punts on the question of paying for Trump’s border wall. That shortcoming might be the best way to stop the reauthorization of the surveillance provisions, since Trump has demanded funding for the border wall in exchange for his signature on a continuing resolution. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D–N.Y.) has suggested that Trump might veto the bill in an effort to hamstring the ongoing impeachment investigation.

And while Rep. Justin Amash has taken a beating recently over his impeachment stance, he was right on in calling out the tossing of this reauthorization into a spending bill.

“I introduced an amendment to strip the Patriot Act extension from the spending bill. It has no business being in there. Just like GOP leaders, Dem leaders ruled my amendment out of order. Neither party protects your rights, even though securing rights is why government exists! ” he tweeted.

And what are you hearing of this in the mainstream media, people?  Forget impeachment.  If impeachment was important, they would be dealing with Trump on his crimes against the Constitution like his administration’s ex post facto “rule,” which is unlawful, against bump stock bans, or his push for red flag laws, threatening to impose executive tariffs on Mexico (something that is only authorized in our Constitution to Congress), or his lobbing missiles into Syria twice with no authorization from Congress and no legitimate, verifiable reason to do so.  I could go on down that road, but you get the point.

Your freedoms are being attacked by the left and the right, the Democrats and the Republicans and until you get that through your heads, America, you will continue to fall prey to the beast system that seeks to rule over you rather than enjoy the freedoms that only King Jesus provides for those that obey Him and stand for the law and justice.
