Religious Leaders Draw Line in Sand on Redefining Marriage: We Will Not Obey Supreme Court

It was probably inevitable that we would get here, and here we are. The US Supreme Court began hearing arguments this week on “gay marriage” or same-sex “marriage” (take your pick).

Considering the fact that “gay marriage” or same-sex “marriage” cannot exist due to the covenant nature of marriage no matter what laws are passed, we are left with the political agenda of the radical left – although I’d wager the majority of Americans are completely unaware of this.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

None of it has to do with the rights of homosexuals to “love who they want to love,” as the arguments go, or their “persecution” by those who oppose their lifestyle. That’s the way it always goes with the special interests that leftists manipulate in order to gain measure after measure of political power.

On April 28, Fox News’ Todd Starnes reported:

“We will not obey.”

That’s the blunt warning a group of prominent religious leaders is sending to the Supreme Court of the United States as they consider same-sex marriage.

“We respectfully warn the Supreme Court not to cross that line,” read a document titled, Pledge in Solidarity to Defend Marriage. “We stand united together in defense of marriage. Make no mistake about our resolve.”

“While there are many things we can endure, redefining marriage is so fundamental to the natural order and the common good that this is the line we must draw and one we cannot and will not cross,” the pledge states.

The signers are a who’s who of religious leaders including former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum, National Religious Broadcasters president Jerry Johnson, Pastor John Hagee, and Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse.

The pledge was co-drafted by Deacon Keith Fournier, a Catholic deacon, and Mat Staver, the founder of Liberty Counsel. Also involved in the document were Rick Scarborough, the president of Vision America Action and James Dobson, the founder of Family Talk Radio.

“We’re sending a warning to the Supreme Court and frankly any court that crosses the line on the issue of marriage,” Staver told me.

These religious leaders are not opposing the legitimization of “gay marriage” solely on biblical grounds, or because they personally feel that homosexuality is “icky.” They are also doing so because they know that advancing this cause is the political left’s pretext for criminalizing Christianity.

That is the true objective, and concerning the so-called issue of “gay rights,” it always has been. Christianity has always been the biggest impediment to Marxist ascendency.

Recently, I cited an article in TruthRevolt.org which referenced a Canadian columnist’s piece that chronicled the disenfranchisement of Christians and the criminalization of their beliefs in the wake of that country “legalizing” same-sex “marriage.” Parents’ rights were summarily nullified. Powerful “Human Rights Commissions” whose members sodomize hamsters and other small animals in dark, subterranean chambers began to ruin lives, careers, and businesses, all under the auspices of making sure that no sexual deviant ever got his or her feelings hurt by some insensitive “bigot.”

These commissions have the power to monitor and regulate communications, enter residences, and seize property. Homosexual activists and their surrogates spy on churches and religious groups, poised and ready to report to the nearest Human Rights Commission office any speech they deem to be remotely discriminatory.

In America, I would sincerely hope things get very ugly long before any of that comes about.

And you can print that…
