The House Judiciary Committee got one of the 51 intel signers to flip.
It only took two and a half years to admit the obvious.
That the Biden campaign was behind the letter of 51 ex-intel officers falsely claiming that the Hunter Biden laptop was a Russian operation was obvious. And the stunt would have been politics as usual if not for the fact that the officials were leveraging official positions and supposed access to secret intelligence to make those claims.
And, more importantly, those claims were then used to engage to coordinate a Big Tech censorship campaign to prevent the story from spreading on social media. And the media promoted the letter as a fact and used it to justify not reporting on the Hunter Biden laptop during the election or describing it as Russian disinformation.
The House Judiciary Committee got one of the 51 to flip.
The Committees recently conducted a transcribed interview with Michael Morell, a former Deputy Director of the CIA and one of the 51 signatories of the public statement. In his transcribed interview, Morell testified that on or around October 17, 2020, Blinken served as a senior advisor to the Biden campaign and reached out to him to discuss the Hunter Biden laptop story. According to Morell, although your outreach was couched as simply gathering Morell’s reaction to the Post story, it set in motion the events that led to the issuance of the public statement…
That same day, October 17, Blinken also emailed Morell an article published in USA Today alleging that the FBI was examining whether the Hunter Biden laptop was part of a “disinformation campaign.”
Using a USA Today story to bolster claims that it was a Russian plot smacks of the Steele dossier, but Team Spygate doesn’t seem to bother learning any new tricks and its allies seem happy to go along with it.
We’ve got a USA Today story about the FBI being used as the basis for ex-intel people calling a story Russian disinformation, a claim that itself became a USA Today story. This is how all of Russiagate worked.
Q: But, prior to [Secretary Blinken’s] call, you – you did not have any intent to write this statement?
A: I did not.
Q: Okay. So his call triggered –
A: It did, yes.
Q: – that intent in you?
A: Yes. Absolutely.
Blinken, now the Secretary of State, demonstrated his bona fides to Biden’s people on the only part of foreign policy that mattered, covering Biden’s ass.
Morell further explained that one of his two goals in releasing the statement was to help then-Vice President Biden in the debate and to assist him in winning the election. He testified:
Q: What was the intent of the statement?
A: There were two intents. One intent was to share our concern with the American people that the Russians were playing on this issue; and, two, it was [to] help Vice President Biden.
Biden used that letter at the debate despite knowing that it was false.
“There are 50 former national intelligence folks who said that what he’s accusing me of is a Russian plant,” Biden said. “… Five former heads of the CIA, both parties, say what he’s saying is a bunch of garbage. Nobody believes it except his good friend Rudy Giuliani.”
Biden lied, but that’s politics. Democrat allies lied, except that they lied using their intel background. And the really criminal part of it was the coordinated effort by the media, Big Tech, the FBI, the Biden campaign and assorted allies in the disinformation space to suppress the story.
The cover-up and the censorship are very much the crime here.
Anyone can tell lies during an election, but censoring your political opponents is an actual attack on free and fair elections. Any election that takes place under the shadow of an unprecedented campaign of censorship involving the government, private sector monopolies and a political campaign is inherently illegitimate.
