I Bet You Didn’t Derive This From Peter Cutting Off Malchus’ Ear….

“Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.” -John 18:10

Do you remember when Peter cut off Malchus’ ear, the servant of the high priest, in John 18:10?

Last week, I heard an older gentleman preach the whole of the Gospel through just this one Scripture when asked by a woman to explain what took place.

She asked him, “Why would Jesus put his ear back on?”

His reply was fantastic as he said, “At that time, when Peter assaulted Malchus, the servant of the high priest, that was a capital crime.  Peter could have been taken and executed for doing so.”

He went on, “When Jesus restored the ear, he took away all evidence that Peter had ever transgressed (Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 9:22; 1 John 1:7).

Jesus left no evidence whatsoever that Peter committed a crime, and that’s representative of what Jesus did for us on the cross through His blood (Psalm 103:12; Isaiah 38:17; Romans 3:24-25; 1 John 2:2, 12).

To those who have repented and believed, there is no evidence of a crime committed.  The blood has washed it all away.
