War Crimes Stacking Up: 3 More Killed In US Attack On A Venezuelan Boat – Where Is Congress To Rein This In?

There is zero constitutional authority for military use in the manner President Donald Trump has used it concerning several boats that his administration tells us are narco-terrorists carrying drugs to the US.  So far, Trump, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and others have claimed these boats are, in fact, narco-terrorists, but have failed to provide an ounce of evidence to their claim.  Furthermore, ONLY Congress can call up the armed forces to be used in any matter like this, not the president.  By the way, Congress never had the authority to delegate its constitutional authority to the executive branch.  That is found nowhere in the Constitution.

Mac Slavo has the latest.

The United States is committing more war crimes, unapologetically, as it strikes and kills three more people on another alleged trafficking vessel in the Caribbean Sea. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth wrote on X Sunday that “the Department of War carried out a lethal kinetic strike” on the boat.

At the very least, the U.S. is no longer lying to its citizens or the world at large by calling it the Department of Defense. The rebrand was accurate; they only removed the illusion that this was somehow to “defend” the U.S.

Now, since its rebrand, the U.S. has been striking civilian boats, those not affiliated with Venezuela’s military, removing due process from people over suspected drug trafficking. No evidence of any “narco terrorism” has been presented by the U.S. ruling class either. These attacks are nothing short of war crimes and should be called out as such.

United Nations human rights chief Volker Turk on Friday condemned the deadly U.S. strikes in the region, calling them “unacceptable,” and urged the U.S. to halt the “extrajudicial killing,” according to a report by RT.

Hegseth claimed in a post on X that the destroyed vessel was operated by members of a “Designated Terrorist Organization,” without providing any evidence at all to back up such a claim. So far, the U.S. has failed to convince those paying attention that these boat strikes are anything other than war crimes. Hegseth added that the ruling class will continue to hunt down these alleged drug smugglers and kill them.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has dismissed the accusations of his government being involved and accused U.S. ruler Donald Trump of preparing a regime-change operation and resource grab. “Venezuela is innocent,” Maduro said in Caracas on Friday. “Imperialism is only seeking to justify a war to steal our riches and bring about regime change.”

Maduro’s accusations are not unfounded, as Secretary of State Marco Rubio is pushing for regime change according to several media reports in the U.S.

All of this is leading us toward a war with Venezuela, with the newly rebranded Department of War at the helm. We’ve already begun that harsh slide to tyranny, and if this war kicks up with the support of the current Christian nationalist movement, things could get very ugly very quickly.

Keep these three things in mind when the powers that are tolerated open their mouths to lie to you about this:

  • Drug Trafficking Routes: Experts note that the primary maritime routes for cocaine trafficking to the U.S. are generally in the Eastern Pacific Ocean, not the Caribbean Sea where many of the initial strikes occurred.
  • Fentanyl Origin: Fentanyl, which officials mentioned as a target, is primarily manufactured in Mexico using chemicals from Asia, with Venezuela playing a minor role in its trafficking.
  • Traditional Law Enforcement: The U.S. Coast Guard typically interdicts suspected drug vessels by boarding them and arresting the crew, a process that follows legal procedures and allows for the seizure of evidence. The recent military strikes, which destroyed the vessels and killed most occupants, have been described as a departure from these norms and have been condemned by UN experts and others as potentially illegal extrajudicial killings.

Many believe that all of these attacks are to put pressure on the government of President Nicolás Maduro, who has been indicted on US narco-terrorism charges, which he denies.

Perhaps if the US would deal with its own drug traffickers in the Central Intelligence Agency, we might actually begin to deal with an influx of drugs rather than acting unconstitutionally, killing potentially innocent people and beating the war drums for the defense contractors.
