In all of the froth surrounding issues of variant sexuality, one salient truth has gotten lost:
If transgenderism is a thing, it eliminates homosexuality. This is for the simple reason that “same-sex attraction” is an empty construct without a clear distinction between the sexes. Transgenders have gotten so twisted around in their heads they now denounce lesbians as bigots because they don’t want to date men who identify as women. The self-righteous Ts denounce the LGBs as transphobic haters.
The split between the pro-transgender crowd and the pro-homosexual crowd is widening into a chasm. Homosexual writer Andrew Sullivan argues that transgender ideology targets gays and lesbians, and “undermines their rights” because, according to the Ts, the LGBs are stuck in an outdated binary understanding of human sexuality as a matter of biology and not mind.
Biologists Colin Wright of Penn State and Emma Hilton of the University of Manchester wrote in the Wall Street Journal, “Biologists and medical professionals need to stand up for the empirical reality of biological sex,” because the denial of biological sex is “at odds with the scientific understanding of human sexuality.”
For those of us who are members of the science-based community, the position that sex is biologically determined and fixed at the moment of conception is incontestable. This is biological science, not biological scientology. A boy has a “Y” chromosome, a girl has an “X” chromosome, and they do from the very moment they are conceived in the wombs of their mothers.
Biological sex is binary. There is either “male” or “female,” just as the Scriptures indicate, and there is nothing in between and nothing on either side. No one is transitioning from one sex to its counterpart. Everyone is one or the other, and there is no sliding scale between them. There is no “sex spectrum” with gradations.
Wright and Hilton affirm, “No third type of sex cell exists in humans, and therefore there is no sex ‘spectrum’ or additional sexes beyond male and female. Sex is binary.”
They state flatly, “In humans, reproductive anatomy is unambiguously male or female at birth more than 99.98% of the time.” While there are “intersex disorders,” in which there is some biological ambiguity about sex organs, such cases are “extremely rare” and not a “third sex.”
As the American College of Pediatricians put it in 2016, these disorders “are all medically identifiable deviations from the sexual binary norm, and are rightly recognized as disorders of human design. Individuals with DSDs do not constitute a third sex.” To foolishly argue otherwise is “dangerous and anti-scientific.”
It is biologically impossible for someone to change his biological sex. The concept is “nonsense,” according to researcher Jane Robbins. “A male on the day of his conception will remain a male on the day of his death.” Children are the primary victims of this conceit, many of whom go through hormone treatments and surgical mutilation in the hope of curing gender dysphoria. The American College of Pediatricians correctly calls this “child abuse,” especially when 85% of sexually confused teens will grow out of their confusion by adulthood without drugs and surgery.
While lawmakers are outlawing gay conversion therapy, which helps to convert the mind to a proper alignment with God-given sexuality, they are now pushing forward with a pathological kind of conversion therapy, mutilating bodies through hormones and surgery, rather than transforming minds.
“The time for politeness on this issue has passed,” concludes Wright and Hilton. “Biologists and medical professionals need to stand up for the empirical reality of biological sex.” Hear, hear.
