Governor Maura Healey – Don’t the People of Massachusetts Deserve Better?

Governor Maura Healey of Massachusetts recently signed legislation that will make it easier for expectant mothers to receive an abortion at end-stage pregnancy. This means abortions past 24 weeks are allowed — with no requirement of medical justification. For further clarification, it means abortions could be performed at full term just days before natural birth — for “any reason or no reason at all.”

The law also changes the state’s medical-review requirements, prohibiting a review process from overriding the professional judgment of the treating physician and the patient or the patient’s health care proxy.

The new law, H.5595, removes the state’s previous four-part framework for abortions at or after 24 weeks of pregnancy. Under the former law, an abortion at that stage was permitted only under specific circumstances, including when necessary to preserve a patient’s life or in certain cases involving severe fetal conditions. Now, per the legislation, “an abortion may be performed by a physician based upon the professional judgment of the physician.” The bill would also do away with the existing medical review process and the reporting safeguard for late-term procedures. In effect, H.5595 would weaken what little safeguards for life exist in Massachusetts and expressly legalize all abortions on demand for any reason in state law.

Moving on to the mindset of a one-term, liberal, Catholic, gay governor, here are comments made by Governor Healey on her promoting full-term abortion: “In a state with the best doctors in the world, no woman should have to travel hundreds of miles to get the care she needs. Now, she won’t have to.” Rationale for this statement? None.

Yet, another insidious comment by Healey: “As long as I’m Governor, abortion will remain safe, legal and accessible in Massachusetts. You have my word.”

“We’ve heard so many stories, stories that are filled with a lot of pain and anguish and heartache … We’re signing this law so that new patients, people we won’t know or won’t meet, will be able to get the care that they need in Massachusetts,” Healey said at a recent news conference.

Catholic critics are calling for Massachusetts Gov. Healey to be excommunicated from the church as well as being barred from receiving Holy Communion after she signed legislation removing the state’s previous restrictions on abortions after 24 weeks.

And this from Bishop Robert Barron:

”The governor of Massachusetts just signed into law a statute that permits abortion up until the moment of birth. A fully-formed child, moments before exiting the birth canal, can be eviscerated, chopped into pieces, have its head crushed or skin burned off—all under the full protection of Massachusetts law. What I found particularly gross was the reaction of the entirely female crowd around the female governor of Massachusetts as she signed this barbaric provision into law. ”

Franklin Graham was quoted as saying:

“This sends a chill up my spine. Smiles and applause while the Democratic Massachusetts governor signs a bill to allow abortions up to birth in her state. This is murder. It’s evil. She calls abortion healthcare for women. The Bible says, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil” (Isaiah 5:20). This governor and those cheering will one day stand before a Holy God — I don’t think they will be cheering then.”

As controversial and upsetting as Maura Healey’s legislation is to terminate end-stage pregnancy, there is more that Massachusetts voters should be very concerned about with a primary and election for governor looming — Primary — September 1 and Election — November 3. It’s called the out-of-control drug problem in Massachusetts. Below are links to newspaper articles I have had published regarding Healey’s support of “harm reduction” not “harm elimination” and her alignment with zealots promoting “Church of Safe Injection Sites.” The word “injection” was substituted with “consumption” to entice support from non-profits promoting drug use under the guise of addressing the Massachusetts drug epidemic. What has become troubling is that these harm reduction promoters are not focusing on prevention, education, or treatment, but rather the insanity of giving those addicted safe places to shoot up illegal drugs.

Governor Maura Healey has consistently prioritized harm reduction as a core component of Massachusetts’ response to the opioid and substance use crisis. Hopefully, on September 6 and November 3, voters will take back Massachusetts by aborting Maura Healey as governor.
