In a not surprising move, the Senate has confirmed Barack Obama’s nomination for surgeon general, Vivek Murthy, in a 51-43 vote. Murthy has been best known as the founder of “Doctors for Obama,” which later morphed into “Doctors for America,” and blasted a pro-Obamacare message. Murthy also gained some notoriety in his gun control advocacy after the Sandy Hook incident. In 2011, Doctors for America promoted itself heavily in the “Docs versus Glocks” campaign in Florida.

Murthy views gun ownership as a public health issue and believes doctors should be questioning their patients about gun ownership/possession. According to Murthy, more research is needed to prove that “less crime equals fewer guns.” This additional research would be funded by the American taxpayer. His staunch belief that guns are a “health care issue” fit perfectly with the agenda of gun control/registration leading to confiscation championed by Obama. In his position as US surgeon general, Murthy, dubbed “America’s top doc,” will now be in a position to disseminate information in order to keep us all healthy.

Murthy, along with his organization, promotes “licensing of guns, limits on ammunition purchases, and a mandatory 48 hour waiting period.” As you may recall, the Obamacare mandate prohibits the federal government from using patient medical records to compile a list of gun owners; however, Obama issued an “executive order” in the wake of the Newtown shootings that Obamacare does not prohibit doctors from asking patients about guns. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has declared its position on gun ownership by recommending that American parents should “NEVER have a gun in the home” and advocating firearm legislation to ban “assault” weapons and high capacity magazine sales. Murthy’s views fit nicely with the AAP and this administration.

According to the Daily Caller, “Obama released a statement that made it clear Murthy would be relegated to a political messaging role in the administration, with shades of First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign talking points.” One could bet those talking points include advocating for gun control, gun licensing, and/or gun registration.

Interestingly enough, Murthy has ties to none other than Jonathan “Americans are stupid” Gruber. Gruber spoke at the Doctors for America “first expert panel” after DOA hosted the infamous “Gun Policy after Newtown” in January 2013. Gruber also spoke at a Murthy event on the Supreme Court case that eventually upheld the constitutionality of the Obamacare individual mandate. In 2012, Gruber supported Murthy’s “Patient’s Over Politics” bus tour that went to Washington, DC, to support Obamacare.

Back in March of this year, it was predicted with Reid’s slick trick maneuver to the nuclear option in the Senate that Murthy was a “shoe-in” for the position.

The Surgeon General has a strong voice when it comes to policy related to public health issues. Under Obamacare legislation, the Surgeon General sits as the chair of the National Prevention Council, which encompasses 20 executive departments, meaning Murthy now has tremendous influence over policy while Obama touts Murthy as “relegated to political messaging.” Eric Holder stated that Americans needed to be “brainwashed” against gun ownership. Well, it seems this administration picked the perfect man for the job in Vivek Murthy.

Vivek Murthy is the new face for gun control advocacy and the new US Surgeon General. It seems the Democrats are getting in plenty of pot shots before leaving the Senate. Their man is in the position to influence 20 executive departments into pushing a gun control agenda – agencies that already make pseudo-law through “rules and regulations.”

The game is afoot and the deck is stacked in favor of the gun control agenda. It is already a commonly known fact that Sen. Dianne Feinstein would “confiscate every firearm” if she had her way, but exempting herself, the political elite, law enforcement and the military – meaning only government and criminals would have firearms. Everyone would be able to sleep soundly at night knowing they were safe and secure from those “nasty guns.” (sarcasm)

Ask those in Australia how they feel about a gun ban now that Islamic jihadis took individuals hostage in a chocolate shop using guns.

With the history of Congress betraying the American people on issues such as Obamacare and immigration, can we truly trust them to uphold the Constitution and the individual God-given right to bear arms? What about the individual states’ responsibility to protect citizens from unconstitutional laws as a sovereign entity?

Just as Murthy was indicated to be a shoe-in for the unconstitutional position of Surgeon General, you can almost bet that the issue of firearm ownership, firearms or guns, in general, will be highlighted as a public health issue in America, regardless of any legislation, the Second Amendment, inherent unalienable rights or otherwise. Soon, your doctor will be questioning you about gun ownership, especially pediatricians, if they aren’t already. Obamacare has already threatened the doctor-patient relationship. The new Surgeon General, Vivek Murthy, will hammer the last nail in that coffin.
