Pennsylvania Re-Elects Dead Man
Every voting cycle, we hear about voting rolls including dead people, and even votes cast by dead people. Well, in 2022, the people of Pennsylvania re-elected a dead man to office.
Tony Deluca, who had been a Pennsylvania state representative for 39 years until he died last month of lymphoma at the age of 85, was re-elected because voters chose his name over his challenger from the Green Party.
Post-Gazette reports:
Late state Rep. Tony DeLuca won his seat in the 32nd District, triggering a special election to fill that seat at a later date, in one of the first state House races called Tuesday night by the Associated Press.
Early voting numbers Tuesday indicated that Mr. DeLuca, a Democrat, had a sizable lead over Green Party challenger Zarah Livingston. Mr. DeLuca, the longest-serving member of the state House of Representatives, died last month at age 85 from lymphoma. It was too late to change the election ballots or change the candidate running for the 32nd District, which includes Penn Hills, Verona, parts of Plum and Oakmont.
While we’re incredibly saddened by the loss of Representative Tony DeLuca, we are proud to see the voters to continue to show their confidence in him and his commitment to Democratic values by re-electing him posthumously. A special election will follow soon. pic.twitter.com/CfLnSCuvK9

Mr. DeLuca served in the state House for 39 years. For more than 20 years, he served as the minority chairman on the House Insurance Committee and was passionate about improving accountability measures for medical professional
Mr. DeLuca was a Penn Hills resident for more than 60 years. He graduated from Westinghouse High School in 1955 and the Community College of Allegheny County with degrees in real estate and political science. He had four children, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his late wife Connie, to whom he was married for 66 years, prior to her diagnosis and death from breast cancer.
Consider also that John Fetterman won in Pennsylvania, a man who has brain damage from a vaccine injury! Is anyone actually buying any of this?
Some folks commenting that the voters here were oblivious. Some certainly were. But for others, they likely preferred the idea of a special election over electing the third-party candidate on the ballot
