NYC Subway Will Run Provocative Sex Toy Ad, But Not Pro-Freedom Ads

Despite having won numerous legal free speech battles against the NYC MTA to run our pro-Israel, anti-jihad ads in New York’s transit system, the NYC MTA several years ago prohibited all of our ads under the guise of a political/issue-related advertising ban.

But they are running this — ads from a women’s sex toy company.

Even worse, in November 2015 a judge ruled that ads by a Muslim group declaring “The Muslims Are Coming”had to run. When a judge ruled that our ads had to run, the NYC MTA issued a ban that appears increasingly to only apply to AFDI. The Muslim supremacist ad and now this sex toy can run. But not our pro-freedom ads.

The march of totalitarianism.

“Provocative Sex Toy Ads To Appear On NYC Subway,” by Gabrielle Okun, Daily Caller News Foundation, May 18, 2018 (thanks to Todd):

Provocative sex toy ads will appear on the New York City subway after the Metropolitan Transportation Agency (MTA) banned them for a day, according to the New York Post Thursday.

Unbound, a women’s sex toy company, will be allowed to have their ads displayed in the subway despite the MTA previously claimed that vivid images depicted “indecent material,” the New York Post reported. Outfront Media, the third-party company that controls ads on the subway told Unbound their sex toy advertisements broke two laws since they showed indecent material to minors and displayed offensive sexual material, the company told Bustle.

“Unfortunately, the @MTA has decided that NYC is still not prepared to see womxn [women] take control of their sexuality and pleasure,” Unbound tweeted in response to the temporary ban Wednesday.

The MTA’s decision also sparked controversy considering that the subway has advertisements for male sexual enhancement pills. Advertisements for erectile dysfunction should appear on subways, Unbound said and therefore claimed female sexual enhancement materials should as well.

“The MTA has always and will continue to ensure that our policies are applied evenly and fairly,” Jon Weinstein, the MTA spokesman, said Thursday, following the outcry Wednesday….
