If you actually get into the heart and meaning of Christmas, you know that the way people celebrate Christmas is way off base. If you want to know what Christmas is really about, just listen to these seven simple words. Jesus is the reason for the season.
Have you ever noticed that every single time a holiday that has to do with God comes around, people always make a god out of it? For example, at Easter, the celebration of the resurrection of Christ is portrayed as a bunny rabbit and eggs. Christmas is about the celebration of the birth of Christ, not Santa Claus.
Let me say this first of all, Santa Claus is a tool to get mainly the young people’s minds off Christ, who is the reason for the season. Santa Claus is a fake and a fraud! Yes, you heard me right. He is a fake and a fraud! He is not the reason for the season. When Christmas comes around, what is the first thing that pops up in your head? What am I going to get? Exactly. However, the Bible reminds us that it is better to give than to receive. Yet, many people would have it the other way around to get our minds off Christ.
Santa Claus gets you thinking about what you can get instead of what Christ teaches and that it is better to give than to receive. What people think Christmas is about is exactly contrary to what Christ intended it to be (2 Corinthians 5:15).
Christmas is all about the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ who came to save His people from their sins (Matthew 1:21). It’s not about what you can get, but what you can give (John 15:13). Just like when God sent you the gift of Christ to die on the cross for the sins of those who believe (John 3:16).
“Are you saying that we can’t open presents and have fun?” No, no, no. I am not saying that. I am saying I want you to know the true meaning of Christmas so you are not lied to by thinking Santa Claus is the reason for the season.
Christmas is why we should admire Jesus and reflect on the great mystery in which God was manifest in the flesh (1 Tim. 3:16), the Incarnation. Santa is not a God! Jesus is!
Since Christmas is coming around, make sure that you know what the true meaning of Christmas is. Don’t brainwash your kids into thinking about Santa Claus when Christmas comes around. It only sends a mixed and confusing message.
