“Patients Will Die”: NJ Dems Warned Over Forcing COVID Patients Into Nursing Homes

As I mentioned in, If Cuomo Goes Down, So Should Whitmer, Newsom, Murphy, and Wolf, there’s a murderer’s row of Democrat governors who forced nursing homes to accept coronavirus patients. That’s not the full list, but it is some of the worst of them.

Governor Murphy in New Jersey gets some of the least attention

On March 31st, New Jersey Commissioner of Health Judith Persichilli issued an order to nursing homes and rehab facilities ordering them to take coronavirus patients.

Relying on Governor Murphy’s Public Health Emergency executive order, she issued a Health Department order that set out to achieve “the expedited receipt of patients/residents discharging from hospitals” by warning that, “no patient/resident shall be denied re-admission or admission to the post-acute care setting solely based on a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19.”

The New Jersey Health boss further warned that “post-acute care facilities are prohibited from requiring a hospitalized patient/resident who is determined medically stable to be tested for COVID-19 prior to admission or readmission.”

Some of New Jersey’s worst death tolls actually took place in state-run homes for veterans.

New Jersey’s Department of Military and Veterans Affairs runs 3 homes for veterans. 2 of them had major deadly outbreaks. As of now, the Paramus home had 72 deaths and the Menlo Park facility had 55 deaths.

It’s an old story and old numbers. But we now know that Persichilli knew what would happen.

“Patients will die,” an unidentified administrator declared, according to a recording of the outspoken meeting obtained by NJ Advance Media. “You understand that by asking us to take COVID patients, by demanding we take COVID patients, that patients will die in nursing homes that wouldn’t have otherwise died had we screened them out.”

For Murphy, Republican lawmakers at a hearing on March 5 charged that it seeded nursing homes with a highly contagious virus that has so far killed more than 8,000 people in long-term care in New Jersey.

I’ll skip the extended media apologetic for the Murphy administration inserted in the middle of the article.

“You have asked us to separate safely and create our own wing and take in COVID-19′s from the hospital,” said one on the call, weeks before the true implications of what would soon happen in the state’s nursing homes as the pandemic spread unabated, killing thousands of vulnerable residents.

“The problem, of course, is there is no separating safely,” the nursing home administrator told Persichilli. “It’s almost certain that even though you have staff only on that unit, something will migrate.”

Of course, it will.

The Murphy administration was warned it would happen. They did it anyway and thousands of people died. That’s a crime.
