Removing Congressman Who Slept With Chinese Spy Hurts National Security

I would have thought that having someone this badly compromised on the House Intel Committee was bad for national security, but what do I know? After all I also think storing classified documents in your garage is bad for national security.

Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.), a member of the House Intelligence Committee, said Sunday that Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.) removal of Democratic Reps. Eric Swalwell (Calif.) and Adam Schiff (Calif.) from the panel will hurt the county.

Show me on the atlas where it hurt the country.

“That made them angry. And to appease his right wing, Kevin McCarthy sort of had to throw Adam Schiff on the fire along with Eric Swalwell,” Himes said, referring to the Speaker’s decision to block the lawmakers from the Intelligence Committee.

“That hurts our national security. Between the two of them, they’ve got 20 years of intelligence oversight, and that evidently is gone now,” Himes added. “And that’s a — that makes us a less safe country.”

Between the two of them, Schiff used national security to target political opponents, and Swalwell has been accused of sleeping with a Chinese spy. He’s refused to answer questions about the alleged affair on the grounds that it’s classified.

Then there was his trip to the Islamic terror state of Qatar.

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D., Calif.), the House Intelligence Committee member who was targeted by a foreign spy during his early days in Congress, has met twice in the past nine months with a Hamas-linked charity that spends hundreds of millions of dollars each year to influence U.S. universities.

Our country is much less safe with Swalwell being anywhere near classified information.
