It was John Adams who said that, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” I’d like you to keep that thought in mind as you read this article.
Last week, we were in California on a Ministry trip. On our last day, we had some time to kill before our flight left at around midnight that night. So, after meeting one of Bradlee’s drum endorsers, we decided to burn some time by driving through Hollywood.
When people think of Hollywood, they think of the home of the stars: Glitz, glamour, and everything that goes along with it. Hollywood has the walk of stars (Bradlee likes to call them the “Fallen Stars” because it is a mockery of Jesus Christ, who was found by wise men that followed a bright “star.”), the big Chinese theater (which is really not all that big), and more. I saw Elvis, Ironman, Wonder Woman, silver tin looking men, and some other street dancers, but the one thing that really struck me, were all of the ads, billboards, and advertisements for the new movies and TV shows that are out now, and every other kind of filth you can imagine.
For the record, I would like to say that we do not have TV. Yes, no cable, no HBO, no sports channel…nothing. King David said in Psalm 101:3, “I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes…” So, we decided to follow that Scripture and take it to heart. The immorality and out-right lawlessness that is pumped through the television set these days is downright shameful and wicked.
If you’d like to experience a deeper sanctification and consecration, than why don’t you try turning that thing off and see how your thought life and mindset on life improves (2 Corinthians 6:17; James 4:4). Isn’t there too much to be fighting for in our country than to be wasting away watching TV and polluting your heart and mind with filth?
But going back to Hollywood, California, what struck me, was the names of the shows and the advertisements that I saw. Advertisement such as these:
- Vice
- American Crime
- Two best friends decide to have a baby… And then he meets the love of his life. One big happy family!
- Secrets and Lies
- Killing Jesus
And those were just the titles – that’s not even considering the pictures.
What has become of America? America has become like the new Sodom and Gomorrah, which God destroyed because of its wickedness (Genesis 19). Ruth Graham, the wife of Billy Graham once said, “If God does not judge America, he’s going to have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.”
We wonder why we have a terrorism problem in America. We wonder why we have shootings in schools and kids killing themselves (Hosea 4:6). We wonder why we have death panels on Obamacare, but do we stop to remember that we reap what we sow (Galatians 6:7)?
Do you not stop to think about the fact that every day in America 3,700 babies are slaughtered, murdered, killed, by their own mothers in the womb (Proverbs 6:16-19)? Do we not stop to think that the American people allow this to take place? Do you not stop to think that we have more people jamming into a stadium for the Super Bowl than even comes close to the amount of people we have protesting against the wicked lawlessness we see throughout this land? We care more about watching full-grown men in tights fighting over a pig-ball, than we do the lives of innocent babies in the womb! Shame on America!
In this day and age, we are supposed to accept homosexuality, which the Lord calls an abomination (Leviticus 20:13), and the redefining of marriage to include sodomites. Just stop and think about that for a moment – two men “marrying” each other, two women “marrying” each other. Is that what God intended? Absolutely not! (Ephesians 5:31; Mark 10:7). There are transvestites, transgenders, bisexuals and more and then we wonder why our kids are so confused? We have men who want to be women, and women who want to be men. We are perverted right down to the core in America and do you think that God is going to sit idly by and not judge this nation for the wickedness in which it has allowed (Psalm 9:16)? Of course, He won’t! He is a good judge, so He must punish evildoers.
What has become of this nation? How sad it is to think of how far we have fallen. Is it any wonder that as the Scripture has warned, we see judgment all throughout America (Deuteronomy 28)? Why? Because we have turned our back on God: The God of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. So, what are we to do? Repent and then act to restore America back unto Christ!
John the Baptist said in Matthew 3:2, “Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” In Matthew 3:8, the Bible tells us to, “Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance.” The time to repent from wickedness is now America (2 Chronicles 7:14). We are seeing the judgments of God everywhere, but the question is, will we learn our lesson and repent or will destruction be our end?
I leave you with this quote from Abraham Lincoln. Love him or hate him he was right when he said,
“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”
